Did you know that teak can also be raised and harvested in Mexico? Teak grower Proteak Renewable Forestry cultivates over 8000 acres along Mexico’s Pacific coast.  Since its inception in 2001, environmental and social considerations have been an integral component of the company’s operating philospophy. Following responsible forestry practices, Proteak carries the Forest Management certificate from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). On a daily basis, Proteak plantations capture the CO2 emitted by 20,000 automobiles. Over 3.3 million trees have been planted as a valuable renewable natural resource. Their plantations provide jobs for 250 workes in traditionally low-income areas while paying above-average wages and offering health benefits to all employees. Proteak cutting boards and chopping blocks, one of their product lines, offer durability combined with a highly distinctive natural teak grain patterns.
